Valley of Cleveland Annual meeting notes of interest; |
|
The 7:00 p.m.dinner was served by the O.E.S. Chapter. It was a bountiful dinner of ham balls, potatoes, vegetables, tossed salad (great dressing), and strawberry shortcake. The forty of us could hardly wiggle away from the table. After dinner, we went into the lodge room for our annual meeting. Outgoing president Tim Moore did a great job of conducting the meeting. All committee reports were approved. The highlight of the meeting was the presentations of honorary memberships to various Illustrious Brethren. Receiving honorary memberships were Illustrious Brethren Kenneth DeLaat, Norman Schneider, Wilbur Smith, and Robert Cubbison. Charles Berry and Terry McDonald will receive honorary membership status at a later date. We thank these brethren for all that they have done and continue to do for Scottish Rite Masonry. The meeting was then turned over to Ill.·. John Youngblood, 33°, Secretary of the Valley of Cleveland. He requested that the Installing Marshal, Dennis Lawson, and Installing Chaplain, Russ Palmateer, take their stations. The secretary read the names of the officers elected and appointed. They are as listed at the top of this page. Dennis Lawson made the proclamation and the new year began. Ill.: Youngblood presented Tim Moore with his Past President’s pin. We all thanked Tim for a great year. Robert Brooks made comments about his plans for the year. October 25th -- Litchfield Lodge with Third Vice President Bob Oden in charge of the entertainment. January 24, 2001--First Vice President Dave Kurtz is arranging where and also setting up the entertainment. March 28, 2001--the meeting will be at Seville Lodge with second Vice President John Moore in charge. Some neat ideas are on tap for this meeting. May 23, 2001--The annual meeting. President Robert Brooks has arranged for Medina Lodge to be the meeting location, with the ladies as our guests. As noted in the July/August issue, the meal will be free to all who attend. We look forward to a large attendance. * * * We were glad to see several past presidents showing their support for our Society. Thanks to Marion Shank for coming. * * * We sang happy birthday to our bother Shiloh Fields who is celebrating his 95th birthday this year. Wow!! He really look great. * * * We hope you had a great summer. See you at the October 25th meeting in Litchfield. In the meantime, Don’t take any wooden nickels.
