  HELPING OUR VALLEY

Help restore the pride in our historical building

By Ill.·. Wilbur Smith, 33°
Treasurer, Valley of Cleveland

All of us have experienced the great feeling that comes from giving of ourselves, our talent and our resources to a cause in which we’re interested. I believe all members of the Valley of Cleveland are proud of our Scottish Rite Building located at 3615 Euclid Avenue. I have heard many individuals commenting on the beauty of the first floor since it has been painted, the new DeMolay Room which has been restored to it’s original luster, new restrooms and the landscaping in front of the building.

The Board of Trustees currently are completing the installation of new boilers and have approved the replacement of the three elevators. The cost for these new capital expenditures comes from the Valley’s Operating Fund.

The Trustees have identified many more renovations within the building which frankly the Valley does not have the funds available to accomplish. These include the following:

• Redecorate the auditorium
• Install air conditioning in the Auditorium
• Clean and tuck point the exterior of the building
• Redecorate the Gold and Colonial Rooms
• Replace portable auditorium chairs
• Install air conditioning in DeMolay Room
• Replace front of building sandstone
• New sump pumps

Several months ago, the AASR Valley of Cleveland Foundation was approved to accept tax deductible gifts from members and others to restore and maintain our historical building. This is where you can help the valley by giving a gift to the Foundation for use in financing the restoration of our building.

For anyone wishing to underwrite a special project, we have someone available who would be willing to meet with a donor regarding the project. Call the Valley office at (216) 432-2370 for more information.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SUPREME
COUNCIL CHARITABLE GIVING COMMITTEE

Resolve to care more for others in 2001

By Ill.·. John W. Young, 33°
Committee Chair

....Ah, those New Year’s resolutions! You and I have made them for years. We make them, and we break them. This time of the year we resolve to exercise more, lose weight, work harder, improve skills, etc...and the list goes on!

We often resolve to care more for others in the new year through acts of charity. We promise ourselves to pledge more of our time, talent, and treasure to causes that are most dear to us. Well a great cause we Masons now have is to support Scottish Rite Charities----and most especially our 32° Learning Centers for Dyslexic children.

Why not let the Valley’s Charitable Giving Committee assist you in making a significant tax deductible contribution, and thereby becoming a member of the Scottish Rite Builders Council. Membership recognizes your resolve to assure the success of Supreme Council Charities.

Call Committee Vice Chair Ill.·. David McClenahan, 33°, at (440) 933-8107 or me at (4340) 333-1061 for help or to answer your questions.

Resolve now to support your Supreme Council Charities.
