MASONIC LEARNING CENTER FREEMASONS HELPING CHILDREN
By Ill.·. Robert Bodenstein, 33° As the new year begins, your 32° Masonic Learning Center has been operational the last six months. The reception of this high profile philanthropy has been tremendous. Our Learning Center has been received by the children and their parents very enthusiastically, even above our greatest expectations. At the writing of this article for the Scottish Rite News, we now have ten students in our program along with a waiting list. This number will be increased as we train new tutors. Your center is in need of qualified tutors to work with our students. If you know of any person who would be interested to serve as a tutor, please have them call the Learning Center Office at (216) 881-2234. I guarantee you the reward you will receive of self satisfaction by working with our children will make you feel like a million dollars and our children really appreciate the program. The Northern Masonic Jurisdiction has raised the goal from 55 Learning Centers to 57 Learning Centers and each of these centers would be working with 24 active students. With these kind of numbers, allowing a cost of $4500.00 to treat one student, it is plain to see we must all get behind the funding of this great philanthropy. Rome was not built in a day and neither will the endowment fund to support this great task. However, we must all get behind the project as the children need us. You can help by purchasing ties, scarves, Teddy Bears, joining the Teddy Bear Club, or using a Gift Envelope in lieu of flowers, gifts, etc. when the occasion arises. All of these options are available to you at your Scottish Rite Office in the Masonic Temple. As we close out the year 2000 with this issue, I would like to thank the Board of Governors, especially those who labored through the construction of our Learning Center, our Chair Person and Secretary who gave so much time to see that our meetings are supervised and recorded, and all the other members of the board for their constructive ideas, enthusiasm and their devotion to our monthly meetings. To all members of the Valley of Cleveland and their families, I wish you a Happy New Year.
