First rehearsal to be held on
Tuesday, January 15

By Chester F. Willey
Chorus Director

It’s good to be back (well, most of the way back, anyway) after my recent cancer surgery. A very hearty “Thank You” to all the brethren and their families for their numerous calls, cards, and visits while I was hospitalized and afterwards, and especially for the prayers from all of you--that’s the only thing that brought me this far.

While I’m distributing the “Thank Yous” a HUGE one goes to the brethren of the chorus and to our Organist Rev. Gary Streif, for the success of our recent Fall Reunion on October 27. The chorus sounded wonderful, especially with the able accompaniment of Rev. Streif, not only for us but for the officers and actors in the dialogue and ceremonial portions. The most important “Thank You”, however is reserved for our new Sublime Princes, the class of candidates. Without you, there would be no need for the chorus or officers, and our efforts would go for naught. We hope to see much more of you, as stagehands, make-up artists, actors, officers, volunteer teachers on the learning center, researchers in the Masonic Library, and yes, “CHORISTERS in the coming moths and years.

We received two wonderful Holiday gifts this year, both arranged by phone during my enforced idleness while recuperating. One was a commitment from Rev. Streif to play for us again at the one-day reunion Saturday, April 27th. His growing artistry in the degree work is a blessing to all who come to hear the Degrees, and I hope many more of the current roster of Sublime Princes will join us this spring to hear how good the “new guy is”!! The other gift was made possible by the efforts of Chorister Ted Thomas. Rev. Streif is unavailable to play for us for the Feast of the Paschal Lamb due to his ministerial obligations on Palm Sunday. Knowing there was a need, Ted went to work and contacted a friend of his in Eastern Star, Rosalie Gainer, who graciously agreed to not only play for the Feast, but to be our main rehearsal pianist for our Tuesday rehearsals. What a blessing that will be for the New Year!!

Speaking of the New Year and Tuesday rehearsals, Choristers take note: our first rehearsal will be on Tuesday, January 15th, at our regular time of 7:30 p.m. in the Chorus/Band room at Masonic Square. This is a little early, but schedules for myself, Rosalie, and others necessitated the early start. All Sublime Princes of this or any other recognized Valley of Scottish Rite Masons are eligible to participate in the chorus, so all you Princes (and Satraps, too!!) feel free to join us.

May the blessings of Heaven rest upon us and all regular masons in the New Year. God Bless America.
