Noelle Frantz, left, and Candace Frantz, right, members of the Painesville Assembly, International Order of Rainbow for Girls present a check for $642 to the Presiding Officers of the Four Coordinate Bodies, Brad Goebel, Arthur Quade, John Hall, and Alan Jones. The check was presented to the Valley officers on December 3, 2001.

We are all aware of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The Northern and Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish has Rite have pledged $2.3 million to the Relief Fund.

Other Masonic groups are also rallying to help the victims of the tragedy with one result being a donation of $642 from Painesville Assembly, Rainbow for Girls, to the Supreme Council Fund.

Five girls, lead by Noelle Frantz, Sister of Charity of Painesville Assembly #14, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, decided they needed to do something to help the victims and to show the world that small acts of kindness can accomplish great things.

They decided to hold a luncheon and spaghetti dinner fund-raiser. The girls held an organizational meeting to which they invited representatives of all the Masonic Bodies that meet in the Painesville Masonic Temple. They went to local businesses explaining their project and soliciting donations. They received not only monetary donations, but all the food they needed for their fund-raiser.

On November 17th, with the help of advisors, parents and other adults, they served lunch and then dinner. The menu was pasta with fresh Pesto or tomato sauce, salad, assorted cake for dessert, and bread and butter. Through the conviction and dedication they put into their project, it turned out to be a tremendous success.

Noelle Frantz, Sister of Charity of Painesville Chapter and her sister Candace, the Grand Aid to the Supreme Deputy in Ohio and a Past Worthy Advisor of Painesville Assembly, and on behalf of the members of Painesville Assembly proudly presented the proceeds of the dinner and luncheon, $642, to the Valley of Cleveland December 3 to help give aide to victims of the tragedy Sept. 11th.

Much is spoken about the lack of focus and all the problems that young people display and little about the compassion and dedication portrayed by the acts of kindness of the five girls of Painesville Assembly. They are living examples of the principles taught in their Rainbow Assembly based on the Principles of Freemasonry. I know that I speak for the parents and advisors when I say that it has been a healing experience seeing something positive come from such a tragedy. Working with the young ladies of Painesville Assembly, and seeing such dedication to a good cause, gives me great hope that the future of this great country and the leaders-to-be.
