The Medina Scottish Rite Society held their winter meeting January 23 at Medina Lodge.

With the great weather we have been blessed with, the dining room was filled with brethren and their wives. A total of sixty were served at dinner.

The excellent meal was prepared by the Medina Eastern Star #266 under the able leadership of Lois Thompson. Their RMRA group had ten ladies and Bob Askew watching over his flock. He’s very proud of the new kitchen in the Medina Masonic Temple and makes sure it is treated correctly.

It was a great pleasure to have so many Valley officers join us for the evening. After all the years of my pressuring him, Edwin Strauss was there and promised to return. As Roger Edgington, our Secretary/Treasurer, was practicing for the 4th degree, I had the pleasure of greeting everyone and collecting monies.

I hope the brethren noted and take advantage of the great deal on Life membership for our society. Think about it! Pay now and never pay dues again!!! Some of you are over two years delinquent and will be removed from our records. It’s too expensive to send out notices to those of you who apparently have no interest in our Medina County Scottish Rite Society.

A good reason to belong was the entertainment we had. Our 2nd Vice President, Robert (Bob) Oden, did a super job in his selection. We all went to the lodge room to see “The McCarthy-Ryan Academy of Irish Dance” under the direction of Shannon Ryan and Colleen McCarthy. Both are TCRGs. It was great fun watching these young adults dance. Also seeing all these parents traveling with the dancers was very impressive.

All Society officers were present (some sporting new beards). I counted six past presidents in attendance. It was great to see you out supporting our society.

Illustrious John Youngblood, Valley Secretary, discussed valley events especially April 27th--get candidates for this event. Also he promised no “Bonnie jokes” until after 2006. (We will see!)

Mark your calendars. Our March meeting will be Thursday, March 21st. We will not be meeting at our usual date because of Holy Week. lst Vice President, John Moore, will be in charge of the meeting scheduled to be held at Seville Lodge.
