The 104th annual meeting of the Ohio Council of Deliberation was held June 6 and 7 in Dayton. Receiving the 2001 Meritorious Service Award from the Valley of Cleveland at the 2002 O.C.D. meeting were Joseph A. Jambor, a member of Acacia Lodge no. 651 and Walter C. Klein., Past Master of Denison Lodge (now Quarry Lodge no. 382). Elected to receive the 2002 Meritorious Service Award for the Valley of Cleveland at the meeting were Henry Mack, Jr., of Brooklyn and John William Oberg of Cleveland. Henry Mack, Jr. in a member of Charles Barkley Lodge no. 621 in North Olmsted. He is also a member of Covenant Chapter no. 22, R.A.M. He is also a Past Patron of Forest City Chapter, O.E.S. in 1971 and again in 1988. He joined the Valley of Cleveland in April, 1977 and was named “Mummer of the Year in 1994 where he has been active in several areas especially the 32° Guard Unit. Henry is a World War II Naval veteran. He and his wife, Mildred. have been married for 56 years. They have two daughters. Henry and Mildred are members of the Brooklyn Reformed Church.
John W. Oberg of Cleveland is a member of Quarry Lodge no. 382 in Berea. He joined the Valley of Cleveland in November of 1977 and has been a long-time member of the Class Directors Committee. He has been very active in helping to restore the Cleveland Masonic Center mainly the ladies’ lounge on the auditorium floor, the hallway leading back-stage and the men’s and ladies’ restrooms on the first floor. Oberg is very active in serving the Order of DeMolay. John retired from Eagle Wire in 1997. He and his wife, Jacqueline, are members of the Brooklyn Heights United Church of Christ. The Order of Business for the 2002 O.C.D. meeting began on Friday. Several guest speakers, including John Ott, Director of The National Heritage Museum; Ill... Robert O. Ralston, 33°, Sovereign Grand Commander; and M.W.B. Thomas E. Reynolds, Grand Master of Masons in Ohio who reviewed the Grand Master’s One Day Class on April 27th. The Ohio Council of Deliberations Banquet was held in the evening honoring Meritorious Service Awardees from throughout the state at which time Joseph Jambor and Walter Klein were given O.C.D. honors as M.S.A. recipients. The Saturday session was for the business of O.C.D. with Ill... James E. Olmsted, 33°, presiding. Appointments to various committees were made, and a report given on the 32° Masonic Learning Center program. There are over 60,674 Scottish Rite Masons in Ohio. The O.C.D. is composed of 1058 members. 469 members attended the 105th annual convocation. 65 members and their ladies from the Valley of Cleveland were in attendance at the Convocation hosted by the brethren of the Valley of Cleveland. The 2003 O.C.D. meeting will be held in Akron on June 6 and 7.
Joseph Jambor and Walter Klein honored at Two Valley of Cleveland members, Joseph A. Jambor, and Walter C. Klein, were among 15 brethren from other valleys in the State of Ohio, who received the prestigious Meritorious Service Award recognition at an impressive cap and jewel presentation ceremony at the Ohio Council of Deliberation formal dinner in Dayton, June 7, 2002. Jambor was Raised in Newburgh Lodge no. 379 in 1954. He is presently a member of Acacia Lodge no. 651. He is a Past High Priest of McKinley Chapter; Past District Deputy Grand High Priest of the 16th Capitular District; a member of Woodward Council no. 118; and a member of Couer De Lion Commandery no. 64. He affiliated with the Valley of Cleveland in 1979 and is seen at many Scottish Rite programs selling items that support the 32° Masonic Learning Center Jambor is the owner of Security Lock Service, a locksmith and alarm business located in Cleveland, He and his wife Elizabeth have three grown children. Walter Klein is a member of Denison Lodge no. 640 (now merged with Quarry Lodge no. 382) He was Worshipful Master in 1986, 1988, and 2000. He affiliated with the Valley of Cleveland in 1987 and was named Mummer of the Year in 1999. He is best known as an excellent ritualist in the various Scottish Rite Degrees, especially the roll of the Prince Commander in the 32nd degree of the 2002 Spring Reunion. Klein is also a member of Strongsville Chapter O.E.S., serving as Worthy Patron in 1993 and 1994. He is the owner of TURBCO, a manufacturer of electric heated, insulated weatherized covers for industrial use. He and his wife Wilma have three children and are residents of Grafton. They attend First Church in Oberlin. Congratulations Joe and Walter on achieving this high honor and recognition from the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cleveland, and the Ohio Council of Deliberation.
