Winter session to begin at Learning Center

By Robert S. Bodenstein, 33°
Member of Board of Governors

It seems like only yesterday in my last article I was giving you an overview of our Summer Schedule for our Learning Center. As you read this article, we are looking forward to our Winter Session with a few new students added to our roster who are eagerly awaiting our expertise in doing what we do best, teaching children with dyslexia to read.

On August 5th, your Learning Center held our 2nd Graduation which consisted of four children. Needless to say, it was a joyous day as the graduates received a certificate of their accomplishments along with a gift certificate to a local book store to be used as they see fit. Our students favorite dish was served...what else but pizza. Your Learning Center Board of Governors takes great pride in the accomplishments made by our students. One only has to think of the great difference made in these children by being able to read, a gift that will last a lifetime. When one sees these children as to what they have accomplished, this is the true meaning of happiness.

Your Learning Center is always looking for help in a few areas. If you have the necessary qualifications and desire to become a tutor, call the Learning Center and they will appreciate your involvement in this great philanthropy. If you could give us several hours a week to serve as a volunteer answering phones and just being able to assist our tutors, we would greatly appreciate it. You will find it very rewarding just being around these children.

Now is the time for all Teddy Bear Club Members to update their plaques for 2002. A donation to your Learning Center of $100 will bring you a 2002 sticker and make your plaque current.

Your Learning Center now offers a maroon Teddy Bear Tie to add to your wardrobe accompanying your red and blue ties. For all golfers, don’t forget our Learning Center Teddy Bear head covers. This would be a great Christmas gift for the golfers in your family.
