Legion of Honor to eight residents

DeMolay International, 2nd District, invested the Legion of Honor upon eight area residents, including three brethren from the Valley of Cleveland, at the Cleveland Masonic Center on Saturday, September 21, 2002.

Scottish Rite brethren who received the Honorary Legion of Honor included: Harlan E. Hampton, of Lakewood, a member and Past Master of Cleveland Lodge no. 781, a member of Cunningham Chapter, R.A.M., Cleveland Council no. 36, and Forest City Commandery no. 111. He affiliated with the Valley of Cleveland in 1994. He has been employed by the Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He and his wife Sandy have two grown children, Melissa and Noah. They attend the Calvary United Methodist Church.

Dennis L. Lawson is a Past Master of Medina Lodge no. 58, a Past High Priest of Wadsworth Chapter R.A.M., Deputy Master of Wooster Council no. 13, and a member of Medina Commandery no. 84. He affiliated with the Valley of Cleveland in 1985 and is Chancellor of Lake Erie Consistory. Dennis graduated from Rose Polytechnic Institute in 1964 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and is a Senior Research and Development Associate at Noveon, Inc. (formerly B. F. Goodrich) in Brecksville. He and his wife Celia have two grown children Wayne and Rebecca. They attend the Christian Scientist Church. 

Receiving the Active Legion of Honor was Michael J. Spisak of Brunswick, a Past Master of Phoenix Lodge no. 123, presently King of Cunningham Chapter no. 187, a Past Illustrious Master of Calumet Council no. 133, and presently Senior Warden of Medina Commandery no. 84. He affiliated with the Valley of Cleveland in 1991 and is Captain of the Guard of Ariel Chapter Rose Croix. He is a graduate of Case - Western Reserve University and John Marshall Law School and is an Attorney and partner at Schottenstein, Zex and Dunn, a law firm in Cleveland. He and his wife Dawn have two children, Michael and Megan. They are members of the St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

Others receiving the prestigious DeMolay Degree were James A. Fair, Jr., of North Royalton, a member of Theodore Breck Lodge no. 714 and a teacher in the Richmond Heights School System; Donald A. Kammer, Jr., of Brunswick, an Optometrist in Brunswick; Mark M. Sajna of Rocky River, Sales Manager for The Reserves of Aurora Condominiums; and David L. Whalen of Avon Lake, Assistant Vice President of Fifth Third Bank in Cleveland and Robert L. Jordan.

District Governor of the DeMolay Second District is Martin R. Woodworth. District Council Advisor is James Langmead.
