Medina County Scottish Rite Society By Russell Palmateer On October 23rd, the Medina County Scottish Rite Society met at the Medina Masonic Lodge no. 58 for their October meeting. It was one of those fall evenings where a dinner out and the fellowship of great friends made the evening a pleasant event. There were more than 50 members and friends with 13 additional past and present valley officers in attendance, so the dining room was full of much chatter with everyone sharing in conversation. I sat with some neat people, different than usual, as my wife was not by my side, and found a new perspective in views than I was used to hearing---fun for me. The meeting was under the direction of our newest officer, 3rd Vice President Roger A. Thomas, who is Medina Lodge’s Junior Warden...soon to move to the West. He was guided in his endeavors by President John Moore and Secretary Roger Egington, so what could go wrong. The meal was provided by the women of Medina Chapter O.E.S. no. 266. Lois Thomas and her crew made an excellent meal that was “right out of the oven!!” Anyone who didn’t have enough to eat....it’s your own fault. I counted seven past society presidents in attendance and yes,” I’m pleased to be a member of that group. After dinner, we all made the trip up to the lodge room where some of us complained that the stairs seems to be getting longer every time we climb them. However, after the excellent meal, the exercise was welcome. Every time I write one of these articles, I keep telling you brethren that you should try and attend these meetings. The dinners are great, the talk cheap, and best of all, the entertainment is outstanding. The evening’s entertainment was a ladies’ quartet called the “NOTE-ABILITY”. They have performed at many different events including Blossomfest at Blossom Music Center; singing valentines in the Cleveland area; and the West Side Market during the Holidays. They are registered with Sweet Adeline’s International. They were really great!!The highlight of the program was when the “NOTE-ABILITY” sang to our Secretary Roger Egington “Hey, Big Spender”. It was a lot of fun. Ill... John Youngblood, 33°, our Valley Secretary, discussed the Fall Reunion. He introduced the Present and Past officers of the Valley in attendance and presented Eric (Rick) Schau and John Whitehouse, in the Lake Erie Consistory line, who were recently appointed District Deputy Grand Masters of the 22nd Masonic District. John’s jokes continue to get better....I mean come and hear what you’re missing. For the members of the Medina County Scottish Rite Society and brethren throughout Medina County, our next meeting will be January 22, 2003 at the Seville Masonic Temple. Ill... Kenneth DeLaat will be in charge of the program.
