Scottish Rite Masons hit the road
with motorcycle club
Masonic Club Chapter #1 celebrates 20th anniversary

The Masonic Motorcycle Club of Ohio, International Chapter #1, celebrated 20 years of existence by electing new officers at their annual meting in January. Elected president was Neal Forbes, P.M. Temple Lodge, Vice President, Ray Tanno, Secretary, Ken Weidig, Treasurer, Rex Baker, P.M., Chief Road Captain, Cliff Wilson, and 3 year trustee, Doug Kelley, P. M. Other active committees were appointed. The new president announced that he is planning some great rides and activities for the summer.

Co-founder of the Club, Dick Morse, said that D.D.G.M. Rich Kovak came up with the idea of a Masonic Motorcycle Club in March of 1982. He called the first meeting, got a letter of acceptance from the Grand Lodge of Ohio and began to have meetings. They received a State of Ohio Incorporation Certificate in 1983. Morse said that the clubs by-laws were set up and they conformed to the Ohio Grand Lodge Code observing all the precepts of the fraternity. In 1984, a decision was made to extend the club to an International level. To date, the International Board has issued 26 Chapter Charters around the country, plus a Member-at-Large category for members who are not able to join a Chapter. There are members of the club in five foreign countries and Canada, making it truly International.

Almost all of the members in Chapter #1 are Scottish Rite Masons. But all it takes to become a member is to be a paid up Master Mason, have a motorcycle 350 cc or larger, and be ready to have a great time. Chapter #1 is also planning to host the International Convention in 2004 plus attending many rallies this year.
