Free book,
“The Lion’s Paw”, available to Masons on Active Duty
By Joe Ohlandt
Owner Temple Publishers
During WWII, The Temple Publishers donated a great Masonic novel written by Carl H. Claudy entitled “The Lion’s Paw” to our servicemen overseas. This book was “Dedicated to all Master Masons in Service to our Country.”
As the owner of Temple Publishers, I would like to make that offer again during these trying times. I am willing to donate a book and mailing to any Master Mason on Active Duty to our country beyond our borders in appreciation of their service. Please contact me personally
at donate@thetemplebooks.com
with the members name, lodge and mailing address. I will proudly include a letter of appreciation to them.

DO YOU HAVE
EXTRA TIME?
We need volunteers to man
Masonic Center guard stations
By Ill... Wilbur B. Smith, 33°
Valley Treasurer
During the past several years, the expenses of your Valley have increased while the income has declined as a result of the nation’s economic problems and decline in membership.
Your trustees are working hard to hold cost increases to a minimum. We are looking to the membership of the Valley to join us is this cost reduction effort. We are looking for ways to curb the rising costs. One of the largest expense we have is our security costs.
To control or reduce this expense is for our members to operate the guard station during the day and possibly early evening. We are looking for members who have some extra time to perform this important duty at a minimum hourly rate of pay.
We are looking for individuals who have at least 4 hours available per day 3 to 4 days a week.
Please review your calendars and if you have some free time and are willing to operate the guard’s station, please let our Secretary, John Youngblood, know.
We thank you for your consideration.

OHIO COUNCIL OF DELIBERATION
106th annual meeting of O.C.D. to be held in Akron; Henry Mack and John Oberg to receive M.S.A. awards at June meeting
The Valley of Akron will host the 106th annual Ohio Council of Deliberation statewide meeting on June 6th and 7th in Akron. The meeting is an annual event on the calendars of the Scottish Rite Valleys in Ohio. A feature of the meeting is the conferring of the coveted Meritorious Service Award upon brethren representing the valleys.
The Ohio Council of Deliberation in May 1947, established an award for Meritorious Service of a Masonic character to those worthy of such recognition and who have attained the 32°. This year, the award is limited to two members from the Valley of Cleveland.
Nominated to receive the M.S.A. award in the Valley of Cleveland for 2002 are Henry Mack and John Oberg.
Several events are being planned for Scottish Rite members who wish to attend the meeting in Akron. For additional information, see Ill... John Youngblood, 33°, Secretary of the Valley of Cleveland and he will see to it that you receive the special Ohio Council of Deliberations packet.
Other Living Meritorious Service Award recipients are: Boris Stephanoff, Leonard Kroner, Richard T. Rotzow, Edward E. Eiborg, Edwin F. VanOver, Ralph C. Sievert, J. Robert Jay, Claude A. Pitman, James S. DeVitis, Floyd V. Weitzel, John S. Boyle, Donald R. Oliver, Jesse A. McCready, Theodore R. Brogan, Ross Thompson, Arnold H. Bottger, Thomas D. Orseno, David Mackey, Terry Mate, Karl Horner, Joseph Jambor, and Walter Klein.
