SCOTTISH RITE LEARNING CENTER Learning center students set By Ill... Robert S. Bodenstein, 33°
Whether speaking to a group or being asked about our Learning Center, several questions are predominately asked as to how many students do we have and how many tutors do we have available. One only has to look at our current census to realize the continuing success our Learning Center enjoys. Your Learning Center currently has 21 active students, a goodly number to keep our director and tutors very busy. Currently we have six tutors to work with these children on a one-on-one basis. We also now have four new tutors in training which will probably increase our student census in the near future. Your Learning Center is looking forward to a graduation of several students in July. What a thrill it is to see the self-esteem these children have gained and the fact that they show the confidence when they return to the main stream of society. They can mingle confidently with other children knowing they are not judged differently because they cannot read. This is reason enough for all to realize this is a great philanthropy. After witnessing one of these graduations, one realizes what your donation means to each of these children. You can see first hand that this is not like other philanthropies where your financial donations are sent all over the country and you never see the results of your generosity. When our philanthropy first started, Illustrious Sir Jim Salmon used the term “Kids Are Special People”...and this is so true. The Scottish Rite Ladies’ Association is holding an Old Fashioned Card Party and Luncheon at the Cleveland Masonic Center on May 13th at 12 noon benefiting the Cleveland 32° Masonic Learning Center. The cost is $10 per person for lunch and the party. You can make a reservation with the Scottish Rite office. Please make your checks payable to the Valley of Cleveland. It is open to men and women. We hope you can attend. In closing, why not support your Learning Center, a philanthropy where you can see the value and success of your financial gift. Don’t forget our graduation ceremony on July 31, 2003 in the Cleveland Masonic Center. |
