Supreme Council N.M.J. annual St. Louis will be the site of this year’s annual meeting for the Scottish Rite Supreme Council for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. More than 2000 Thirty-Third Degree Masons and their ladies from 15 northeastern states are expected at the meeting on September 21-24, 2003. The Supreme Council last met in St. Louis in 1982. The 2003 Session will be highlighted by the conferral of the organization’s Thirty-Third Degree upon 143 Scottish Rite Masons, including Ronald R. Ebert, Commander in Chief of Lake Erie Consistory, and Alan W. Jones, Immediate Past Most Wise Master of Ariel Chapter Rose Croix in the Valley of Cleveland, who were elected for this high honor at last year’s meeting in Boston, Mass. The Thirty-Third Degree is awarded for outstanding achievement in the fraternity or for significant contributions to others, reflecting credit on Freemasonry. The impressive ceremony will take place on Tuesday, September 23, in the St. Louis Convention Center. Earlier business conferences attended by the Active Members and officers of the Supreme Council will be held on Friday and Saturday September 19 and 20. Sovereign Grand Commander Robert O. Ralston will preside over the General Session of the Supreme Council on Monday, September 22. It is expected that prominent leaders from other Masonic organizations in the U. S. and throughout the world will be in attendance. At the same time, another luncheon will be served for all Supreme Council members, distinguished guests, and members of the class in the in the Convention Center. Seminars on Tuesday will provide an opportunity for those attending the session to learn more about St. Louis Arch, 32° Masonic Leaning Centers for Children, Inc. and estate planning. Throughout the week there will be many social functions occurring under the auspices of the 15 participating states and the 101 Valleys comprising the Northern Jurisdiction. The 2003 meeting will conclude with the announcement of those elected to receive the Thirty-Third Degree in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in September of 2004.
