MEDINA COUNTY SCOTTISH RITE SOCIETY!

Robert Oden new Society
President; 2003-2004
officers installed at meeting

By Russ Palmateer
Medina County Society Scribe

The Medina County Scottish Rite Society held their annual meeting on May 28th at the Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina.

We were served a buffet style dinner that would easily rate Four Stars of Excellence. One again there were over seventy brethren which included fifteen Past and Present Valley officers and seven Past Presidents of our Society.

After dinner, we went into the Entertainment Hall for our annual meeting.

Our Secretary, Roger Edgington, read the list of officers for the coming year which are as follows: President, Robert Oden; 1st Vice President, Roger Thomas; 2nd Vice President, Dennis Chapman; Secretary/Treasurer, Roger Edgington; Valley Representative, Mark Bollinger; Chaplain, Dennis Lawson; and Society Scribe, Russell Palmateer. Trustees elected were Robert Brookes (1 year); David Kurtz (2 Years) and John Moore (3 Years).

The meeting was then turned over to Ill... John H. Youngblood, 33°, Secretary of the Valley of Cleveland who was our Installing Officer. He requested that the Installing Marshal, Dennis Lawson, and Installing Chaplain, Kenneth Crouse, assume their stations. The secretary read the names of the officers elected and appointed as listed above.

Following the installation ceremony, the proclamation was made by Lawson and the new year began,
Youngblood presented John Moore with his Past President’s emblem. We all thank John for a great year!

Robert Odon discussed his plans for the coming year and announced that a meeting would be scheduled for the end of June or early July to plan the year.

It was announced that Ill... Kenneth DeLaat, 33°, and his wife Sue are moving west. We are sad to see him leave the line of our Society. He would have been our 1st Vice President and we will miss his expertise in our Scottish Rite line of officers.

The entertainment was a group we have had before called “Pics and Hammers” who played their dulcimers along with a violin and guitar backup. It was musical entertainment that was appreciated by the members and guests in attendance.
We were glad that Shiloh Fields, who is now 98 years of age, was in the audience. He look great and says he is doing well.
